Welcome to Heartland Animal Hospital! We are thrilled you stopped by. Whether you are new to the clinic or you have been coming here for 20 years or more, are an experienced pet owner, or considering becoming one, we welcome you to our family!

Our Social Distancing Protocol

In light of the current situation regarding coronavirus, at Heartland Animal Hospital our first priority is the health and safety of our staff and clients. To minimize exposure and risk, we are going to implement a revised appointment procedure.

We will continue to schedule appointments at specific times, but will be asking clients to remain in their vehicles or outside of the building when they arrive. Please utilize the air conditioning in your vehicle to keep yourself and your pets cool. Please call the front desk when you arrive to check in and discuss the details of your appointment with a technician. One of our staff will come out and bring your pet inside, we will be using our own leashes to handle your pets. The doctor will call you on your cell phone to discuss your pet after their exam. We can take payment over the phone and will bring your pet back to you in your car. Checks and cash will still be accepted.

For pets needing end-of-life care we are happy to come to your home or to make arrangements for you to enter the building.

Drop off appointments will continue to be accepted as normal. We will keep you informed of any updates as they happen through email and Facebook.

Medications and pet food can be paid for over the phone and brought to your car or, you have the option of using our online pharmacy(VetSource) via our website. Please feel free to call us at 573-657-1883 if you need assistance with our online store.

We moved to Ashland late in 2000 and began using Heartland Animal Hospital in the spring of 2001. Dr. Cuddihee and her staff took the records of our pets from previous veterinarian’s office and used those to start providing treatment to our pets and building their own records. Fifteen years later, we are still sold on the services our pets receive. Dr. Cuddihee and her staff have celebrated our new pets with us and have been caring and empathetic when we’ve had to say goodbye to some very old friends. While it is difficult to talk about euthanasia of very special animal family members, it is important to me to say that the staff at Heartland have kept some of our pets happy and healthy longer than the breed books say they should live. They have been kind, respectful and caring of both of both the pet and us when the time has come to humanely euthanize the animal. Our dogs look forward to going to the vet’s office in Ashland (and know where the treats are). Our cats are tolerant of trips to the vet and rarely get their claws out (a four star review from a cat, believe me). Finally, I would like to make two points. Dr. Cuddihee will give you every option and scenario for treatment available (and the cost associated with it) but she allows you to make the decision of how to proceed. Second, I recently discovered the price of specialized dog food is less at her office than it is at the farm store in Columbia. So if you want great care and service, and reasonably priced pet products, go to Heartland.
