In-House Pharmacy

Our fully stocked in-house pharmacy reflects our commitment to your pet's health. Ensuring your pet receives the accurate dosage and administration of prescription medications is of the utmost importance. Since we are your pet's prescribing veterinarian, you can trust that when you fill prescriptions at our pharmacy, your pet will receive the right medication, at the right dose, in the right form as quickly as possible. We will discuss any potential side effects or interactions with other drugs your pet may be using and provide detailed instructions on the medication's use. We can even administer the first dose for you, if possible. All our medications are properly stored and have been obtained from safe, reliable sources.

***When shopping for pet medications outside of your veterinarian's office, it is important to keep in mind that a majority of manufacturers sell exclusively to licensed veterinarians, where a direct veterinary-client-patient relationship exists. This approach helps ensure your pet receives the best possible care. This being said, there is a major counterfeit market for animal health products. We encourage you to learn more about the issue by accessing the FDA website

Online Pet Pharmacies- Protect Yourself and Your Pet:
Be A.W.A.R.E.

“Affordable pet prescriptions!”
“Pet meds at discount prices!”
“No prescription required!”
“Your best source for pet meds!”

If you’ve ever searched online for prescription pet medicines, you’ve likely seen similar eye-catching, attention-grabbing claims. They sound convincing, promising convenience and lower prices, but are these claims always true?

Many online pet pharmacies are reputable. Some, however, may be businesses breaking Federal, State, and sometimes, International laws. These illegal online pharmacies may sell medicines that are counterfeit, outdated, mislabeled, or incorrectly formulated. The medicines may not contain the actual drug or may contain incorrect amounts of drug. Some may not work as well if the product is old (expired) or has been stored in conditions that were too hot, cold, or humid. Others may not have the proper directions for use. If you are unhappy with the products you ordered, you may not be able to get your money back from an illegal online pharmacy.

If you want to purchase your pet’s prescription medicines online, you can protect yourself by doing your homework and being online pharmacy A.W.A.R.E.

Health Certificates for Travel

We provide Interstate and International health certificates. We ask that you investigate your destination's requirements prior to your appointment. Many countries require Rabies titer testing and/or microchipping. We are able to provide these services for your pet.

Because each destination country, and even different states, have different requirements for your pet's entry, you are responsible for supplying the list of requirements that need to be met for traveling (usually these are core vaccines and proof of recent veterinary inspection); we can only accommodate the guidelines you provide. Heartland Animal Hospital cannot assume responsibility for ensuring all the requirements are met for your situation and cannot be held responsible for quarantine, denial of entry, or costs incurred due to unfulfilled requirements for your pet. You can find a list of pet-friendly hotels at www.petswelcome.com.

End-of-Life Services

The team at Heartland Animal Hospital understands the passing of a beloved pet is the loss of a member of your family. We are happy to offer at home euthanasia to our regular clients, in addition to services here at the clinic. To help ease the burden of saying goodbye and the confusion of knowing what to do after a pet has died, we offer cremation services to our clients. Please do not hesitate to consult a member of our staff if you have any questions; the entire team at our hospital will do everything possible to assist you and your family with the utmost compassion during these difficult times.

COMMENTS

If you have noticed any changes in your pet's health or behavior, please let us know in the box below.

We are so fortunate to have Dr. Patti Cuddihee for our cats’ doctor. For 18 years, she seems to always know exactly what to do for our cats. We just wish we had a doctor for us humans that was as intuitive about our needs as Dr. Cuddihee is about our cats’ needs. She knows them all by name and loves them.

This year we had to have our most beloved cat euthanized. Dr. Cuddihee came to the house and, afterwards, hugged me and cried with me.

Usually, our stories are good ones. Recently, an 18 year old cat that is slowing down and has health issues had to have his teeth cleaned and extracted. He also had an ulcer in his mouth that Dr. Cuddihee had to treat. Unlike usual, he came home the same day ready to eat and cuddle and, by evening, go for a walk outdoors, with us.

The young ladies at the clinic are always so friendly and helpful, as well. Thanks, Dr. Cuddihee, for taking such good care of our beloved furry family.
